This intimate courthouse elopement at the Santa Barbara Courthouse felt like something straight out of a movie. Although it was raining when we first arrived, everything shifted right before the ceremony began. The clouds softened, the rain completely stopped, and the courtyard felt calm and expectant. It truly could not have worked out more perfectly!
Megan and Harris wanted their day to be centered around family, and because of that, the entire celebration felt warm from the very beginning. Their families had traveled in from different places, so there was this undercurrent of excitement in the air. You could see it in the hugs, in the way everyone leaned in close, and in the way their nieces and nephews waited so patiently for their moment!
A Family Focused Intimate Courthouse Elopement
What made this intimate courthouse elopement especially meaningful was that Megan had given birth to their baby girl, Lily, just two weeks earlier. Yes, two weeks! Therefore, when we say this day felt sacred, we truly mean it. They simply wanted to be married, and it was so precious that Lily was there with them, tiny and perfect in their arms.
During the ceremony, their nieces and nephews tossed petals, which made everything feel joyful and just a little bit wild. It was not overly polished, and honestly, that is what made it so beautiful. The kids giggled, a few petals went rogue, and everyone laughed together. Because of that, the ceremony felt real and alive instead of stiff or overly structured.
Afterward, we captured some of our favorite images from the entire day. Megan and Harris held Lily between them while their hands rested gently over her. I remember lowering my camera for a second just to take it in. It felt like such an honor to document that moment.
